Quotes and estimates
- Quotes are free and given in writing after an inspection wherever possible. A price given over the phone or from photographs is an estimate until the roof has been seen.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- A quote covers only the work described in it. Anything found once tiles, felt or flashing are lifted is treated as a variation (below).
- The price on your written quote is the price you pay for the work described.
Deposits and payment
- Small repairs are normally payable on completion.
- For larger jobs a materials deposit may be requested before work starts; the amount is stated on the quote and is set against the final invoice.
- Invoices are due within 14 days of completion unless agreed otherwise.
- Payment is by bank transfer or cash. A receipt is issued for every payment.
Variations and extra work
Roofs hide their problems. If we uncover rotten timber, failed decking, a defective chimney or anything else outside the quote, we stop, show you (photographs where the area is unsafe to access), and give you a price before continuing. No extra work is charged without your agreement.
Access, scaffolding and safety
- You agree to give safe access to the property and, where needed, to the neighbouring land required to set up ladders, a tower or scaffolding. Where a neighbour's permission is required, you agree to obtain it.
- Work at height is carried out in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. We will not work from unsafe access.
- Please keep vehicles, pets and children clear of the working area, and move fragile items from lofts and from directly beneath the work.
- Scaffolding, where required, is charged as shown on the quote and is hired for a stated period.
Weather and timing
Roofing is weather-dependent. Dates are given in good faith and we keep you informed, but we will not put a roof, our team or your home at risk to hit a date. Where rain, ice or high wind stops work, we reschedule to the next safe working window at no extra cost to you.
Workmanship guarantee
- The length and scope of the workmanship guarantee are set out in writing on your quote or contract for each job.
- The guarantee covers defects in our workmanship: the way the work was carried out.
- Materials are covered by the manufacturer's own warranty, which we pass on to you.
- The guarantee does not cover: storm damage or other events after completion, failure of parts of the roof we did not work on, damage caused by third parties or by later alterations, blocked gutters or lack of maintenance, or wear and tear.
- To claim, contact us with the address and a description of the problem. We inspect and, where the claim is valid, put it right at no charge.
- The guarantee is given by the business itself.
Your statutory rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where no price was agreed. Materials supplied must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you are entitled to have the work repeated or to a price reduction. Nothing in these terms limits those rights, and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
Cancellation
Because most of our contracts are agreed at your home, over the phone or through this website, you normally have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you want work to start sooner in an emergency, just ask and we will confirm it in writing before we begin. To cancel, contact us by phone or email and we will confirm in writing.
Waste
Waste from strip-outs is removed and disposed of lawfully. Skip placement on a public highway requires a council permit, which is charged where needed.
Complaints and governing law
If something is wrong, tell us first — our complaints procedure sets out how we handle it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
